 What is Narrative? - Halloween Ends 

  1. The premise of the plot in the movie Halloween Ends directed by David Gordon Green is to end the highly recognized and infamous Michael Myers series. This movie brought an unexpected twist to the well-known story of Michael Myers. It allowed the audience to finally feel a sense of relief after the antagonists' victims finally get revenge. 

  1. The main theme of this movie was revenge and grief. Throughout the movie, viewers began to rebuild grief for the first victim of Michael Myers and understand her overwhelming anxiety and depression that she has been battling. However, the audience can feel a sigh of relief after the town that Michael Myers terrorized finally gets revenge. 

  1. The narrative is a continuation of the long series of films created in the past about the villain's storyline. While the movies are in chronological order, many aspects of the storyline in this film are flashbacks to past events. These flashbacks provided context to the present storyline, and helped those who need a reminder of earlier movies understand what is happening. The movie had a clear beginning, middle and end, making the plot easy to follow and engaging for the audience.  

  1. Throughout the movie, there are many different conflicts that can be noticed by viewers. The most recognizable within this movie and the films leading to it is man vs. man. This conflict can be seen when Michael Myers is on a mission to kill Laurie. He distributes this conflict with his other victims, as well. Another conflict in this movie is Laurie's Man vs. Self conflict. She is portrayed in this movie as a dull, lifeless woman by the color schemes and mis-en-scene that is used for her character. Throughout the film, viewers watch her have constant flashbacks to her traumatic experience with Michael Myers, and watch her trauma reflect in her depression and anxiety. Laurie is a very complex character who overcomes many obstacles during this film. She spends the beginning of the movie in fear that Michael may find her. However, she overcomes this fear by the end of the film when she overpowers Michael. 

  1. There are many different characters in this film who complete the narrative 

Protagonist: Laurie Strode, Allyson Nelson 

Antagonist: Michael Myers, Corey Cunningham 

Corey helps Michael Myers by murdering people in the city. He does this in relation to a deal that he made to help make Michael stronger.
