Week 7 (2/3): "Lucid" Movie Poster

Our Final Product for our movie poster:

Since I am producing this film and creating our advertisement on a slim budget, I utilized the free apps on the app store to create our movie poster. For the creation of our poster, I used Picsart. I then distorted the color variations of our movie poster with the VSCO app.

We wanted the font for our movie title to correspond to the overall feeling of our film and create a feeling of discomfort when it is being viewed. My partner and I both liked how this font slightly looked like a wound mark and believe that it feeds into the plot twist of our film. I picked the setting for our poster to be a beach, as it corresponds to the film directly. The moonlight in the movie poster adds and eerie feeling and gives a light source for our poster. We wanted to incorporate the pentagram into the movie poster, as it is an easter egg to what happens later on in the film. It also gives the audience a slight understanding of what our film is about; demonic entities and evil. I erased half of the pentagram and lined it up with the water line, as I wanted the pentagram to mimic a sunset. In our film, the change of tone occurs after the girls watch the sunset, and the beach is pitch black. So, the pentagram resembling the sun setting in our poster illustrates what occurs in our film.

I changed the coloration of our poster to a more monotoned and gray theme, as it gave a more sinister feeling to the advertisement. I added light beams and wear marks to our poster to make it look more candid and worn. I wanted this poster to appear like it wasn't professionally shot and seem more of an accidental photo rather than a planned shoot. I believe that these techniques add to our film's authenticity.
